   Baked Hot Wings

baked hot wings

My hot wings are different than most because they are baked and not fried. They are delicious fall of the bone wings and people always look forward to me making them. I used to use a regular 13 x 9 cake pan to make these. A few years ago I went to Big Lots and found me a nonstick 15x10 pan with handles which is the prefect size for cooking 4 pounds of wings.

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbs. butter
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 4 pound bag of wings
  • 17 oz bottle hot sauce (watery Louisiana kind)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 small onion (finely chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven tp 400 degrees.
  2. Put diced garlic and butter together and melt in a microwave.
  3. Put chicken wings in pan and pour the butter on them and mix to coat them. Arrange the wings in pan so the skins are facing up. Place in oven and cook for 20 minutes
  4. While the chicken is cooking combine the hot sauce, brown sugar and onion in a bowl and mix well until there are no lumps of sugar in mixture.
  5. After 20 minutes, remove chicken from oven and drain off the liquid. I dump them into a colander then put them back in the pan.
  6. Pour your hot sauce mixture over the chicken and coat the chicken well and put back in oven.
  7. Turn your oven down to 350 degrees and cook for another 45 minutes to an hour or until all the liquid has eveporated. While it's cooking turn chicken with a spatula every so often to coat them.

  8. Note: Don't like your wings to hot? You can thin out some barbque sauce with a little water and replace some of the hot sauce with it. Just cook it until the liquid is gone and it should come out great.
